Product Overview
The horse stands square, head up, weight even on all four. The mane falls down the near side; the tail hangs long and heavy. Everything below the fetlock is black — and that is what lets the gold read as gold rather than as a shiny lump.

It is a trophy shape before it is anything else. A standing horse on a low base is what an association hands to a champion. It is also a shape that goes wrong easily: legs too thin, hair smoothed over, a tail that reads as an afterthought. The black on this one is a patina, not paint, so the mane keeps its strands instead of turning into a solid flap.

Trophies come in runs, not singles, so the piece has to repeat. Before you commit to a run, ask us how the mould, the wax and the finish hold across it — that is the part that decides whether trophy number thirty still looks like trophy number one. We wrote about where a trophy run goes wrong.

Craftsmanship
  • Cast brass, lost-wax process. Cast in sections and joined by hand, walls around 3 mm — real weight in the hand, no resin filler, no plating. The foundry process is the same one we use for commission work.
  • Two tones, both applied by hand. The black on the mane, tail and lower legs is a patina laid on after casting. It sits in the hair. Paint would sit on top of it. Hand work is also why two pieces from one run can differ — that is normal, not a defect.
  • Hand-chased after casting. The mane strands, the tail, the hooves, the ground under them.
Design notes
  • Standing, not rearing. Four feet flat on the ground. A standing horse sits on a desk or a shelf without a support, and it survives being picked up.
  • The colour split does the work. Gold above the fetlock, black below. It draws the eye down to the stance, which is the part people actually judge.
  • Cast ground base. The textured ground is formed with the piece, so the horse stands on something instead of floating.
  • A second base, if you want one. Under that, we can add a wooden display base in a deep red stain — supplied with the piece, or made to your own drawing.
  • Reads at three distances. The silhouette holds across a room, the two tones separate at a few steps, and the chased detail rewards a close look.
Where it works
  • Association and corporate award programmes, annual dinners, long-service and retirement pieces
  • Hotel, club, stud and resort interiors; trophy cabinets and reception desks
  • Private commissions — a horse with a name
  • Retail, gallery and showroom display
Runs and one-offs both work. If you are ordering against a date, tell us the date first and we will say whether it fits before you commit — see custom trophies and awards for how the two routes differ.

Customization & OEM / ODM
Nothing on this page is fixed — this is custom work from the first email.

  • Cast to your size — tabletop award through to a shelf or lobby piece
  • Change the colour split: all gold, all black-and-bronze, or a patina matched to a sample
  • Model the horse from your own photographs — a specific animal, a specific stance (ODM)
  • Engrave lettering, a class name, a year or a club mark on the base
  • Change the base shape and height to suit a plinth or a presentation box
  • Private-label packaging, with a presentation box and a document carrying your own brand
Samples & commercial terms
  • Sample first. A sample is produced and signed off before any bulk commitment, so the piece itself is agreed before the run starts.
  • Commercial terms. Payment schedule, Incoterm and lead time are set out in your quotation, where they can be matched to the project, the quantity and the delivery point.
  • Documentation. Commercial invoice and packing list for customs entry. Import clearance, duties and destination taxes remain the buyer's responsibility. A declaration from our foundry on the alloy used is issued with your order.
FAQ What is the statue cast in?
Cast brass, made by the lost-wax process — not resin with a metal coating. Walls are around 3 mm, and the sections are joined by hand.

Is it bronze or brass?
The alloy is brass. The bronze colour is a surface finish: the piece is coloured by hand, the traditional way bronze tone is produced in this trade. The full alloy is stated in the declaration from our foundry that is issued with your order.

What size does it come in?
Size is part of the brief. Tell us the cabinet, plinth or award format it has to sit in and we will scale it to suit. Send the space and the target height and we will propose proportions with your quotation.

Can you make a specific horse?
Yes. Send photographs of the animal and we will model from them — the wax can be signed off before anything is cast, so the stance and the head are agreed first. Modelling from photographs is quoted as a separate item.

Can it be engraved, and can it be used as a trophy?
Yes. Lettering, a class name, a year, a logo or a plaque can go on the base. Award runs are what this piece is built for.

Do you make trophies for reining and western shows specifically?
Yes — and there is a catch worth knowing before you order. A reining trophy usually needs the right horse type and the right stance, not a generic horse. So we work from your reference: a photograph, a previous trophy, or your own artwork. What a reining trophy needs from the horse is on our blog.

What is the minimum order quantity?
Samples can be ordered ahead of any bulk commitment. Bulk quantities and the applicable minimum are confirmed with your quotation.

Does the horse come with the wooden base?
There are two levels. The horse is formed with a ground base as part of the piece. Below that, a wooden display base — deep red stain, our standard shape — can travel with it, or be made to your own drawing. Tell us which you want and it goes in the quotation.

How is it packed for export?
Foam-lined export carton at small sizes; a fitted wooden crate for larger or multi-piece orders, with consolidated container loading available.

More horses, same foundry
The standing horse is one of a series. A rearing horse — same two-tone finish, caught on the way up — is on the site too, and two Tang-style horses round it out: a Tang dynasty bronze horse sculpture and a verdigris Tang horse. Different models, same process.
