Product Overview

The horse is up on its hind legs, front hooves off the ground, head turned slightly in. Gold body. Black mane, black tail, and the long hair hanging off the fetlocks. On a shelf it reads at a glance — the eye lands on the gold, then follows the black down to the hooves.
Rearing is the harder pose to cast. The weight sits over the hind legs, the neck and mane hang free, and a thin casting sags right there. This one is cast in sections around 3 mm thick and joined by hand, so the line of the back and the set of the neck hold.
It is a display piece first. Nobody is going to pick it up and read a plate, so the money goes into the silhouette and the finish instead: the arc of the body, the strands in the mane, the way the two tones split. If you are ordering more than one — a pair for a lobby, a set for a showroom — say so early; where a casting run loses its detail is the part worth settling before you commit.

Craftsmanship

  • Cast brass, lost-wax process. Cast in sections and joined by hand, walls around 3 mm — real weight in the hand, no resin filler, no plating. The foundry process is the same one we use for commission work.
  • Two tones, both applied by hand. The black on the mane, tail and fetlocks is a patina laid on after casting. It sits in the hair. Paint would sit on top of it. Hand work is also why two castings from one run can differ — that is normal, not a defect.
  • Hand-chased after casting. The mane strands, the tail, the heavy hair on the fetlocks, the hooves.

Design notes

  • Rearing, not standing. Weight over the hind legs, front hooves in the air. It is the pose that lifts a shelf — and the one that needs the casting thick enough not to sag.
  • The colour split does the work. Gold on the body, black on the mane, tail and fetlocks. It pulls the eye along the neck and down to the hooves.
  • The base is the piece's other half. In these photos it is a custom block of reclaimed shipwreck wood — one-off, no two alike. Grain, colour and shape change block to block, so yours will not match the photograph exactly.
  • Plain wood if a set has to match. Ordering two or ten and want the bases consistent? Say so — the standard base is a plain wooden one, sawn square and finished the same across the run.
  • Reads at three distances. The silhouette holds across a room, the two tones separate at a few steps, the chased detail rewards a close look.

Where it works

  • Hotel, lobby, lounge and club interiors; reception desks and stairwells
  • Office reception, boardroom and executive display
  • Home — study, mantel, console, a shelf that needs one strong object?
  • Retail, gallery and showroom display
  • Corporate and opening gifts, milestone and retirement pieces
  • Private commissions — a specific horse, a specific stance
  • Pairs and sets both work. If you have a date to hit, tell us the date first and we will say whether it fits before you commit — see how we take on custom pieces for how the two routes differ.

Customization & OEM / ODM

Nothing on this page is fixed — this is custom work from the first email.
  • Cast to your size — desk piece through to lobby scale
  • Change the colour split: all gold, all black-and-bronze, or a patina matched to a sample
  • Model the horse from your own photographs — a specific animal, a specific stance (ODM)
  • Choose the base: reclaimed wood as shown, or a plain wooden block sawn to your size
  • Engrave lettering, a name, a year or a mark on the base
  • Private-label packaging, with a presentation box and a document carrying your own brand

Samples & commercial terms

  • Sample first. A sample is produced and signed off before any bulk commitment, so the piece itself is agreed before the run starts.
  • Commercial terms. Payment schedule, Incoterm and lead time are set out in your quotation, where they can be matched to the project, the quantity and the delivery point.
  • Documentation. Commercial invoice and packing list for customs entry. Import clearance, duties and destination taxes remain the buyer's responsibility. A declaration from our foundry on the alloy used is issued with your order.

FAQ

What is the statue cast in?
Cast brass, made by the lost-wax process — not resin with a metal coating. Walls are around 3 mm, and the sections are joined by hand.
Is it bronze or brass?
The alloy is brass. The bronze colour is a surface finish: the piece is coloured by hand, the traditional way bronze tone is produced in this trade. The full alloy is stated in the declaration from our foundry that is issued with your order.
What size does it come in?
Size is part of the brief. Tell us the shelf, plinth or desk it has to sit on and we will scale it to suit. Send the space and the target height and we will propose proportions with your quotation.
What is the base made of?
The base in the photographs is reclaimed shipwreck wood — one block, cut to suit the horse. Because it is reclaimed, no two are alike.
Will my base look like the photo?
No. That one is a one-off in reclaimed shipwreck wood — every block is different. If you are ordering a set and want the bases to match, tell us and we will quote a plain wooden base instead.
Can you make a specific horse?
Yes. Send photographs of the animal and we will model from them — the wax can be signed off before anything is cast, so the stance and the head are agreed first. Modelling from photographs is quoted as a separate item.
Can it be engraved?
Yes. Lettering, a name, a year or a logo can go on the base or on a small plaque.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Samples can be ordered ahead of any bulk commitment. Bulk quantities and the applicable minimum are confirmed with your quotation.
How is it packed for export?
Foam-lined export carton at small sizes; a fitted wooden crate for larger or multi-piece orders, with consolidated container loading available.

More horses, same foundry

Same series, same foundry. The standing bronze horse is on the site now — same two-tone finish, the standing pose. More from the series are in preparation and will link here once they are up.
Two Tang-style horses are already up: Tang dynasty bronze horse sculpture and a verdigris Tang horse. Different models, same process.
