The sculpted details — curly hair, bow tie, waistcoat folds, and the rolled manuscript held against the chest — are carved directly into the wax original, then preserved through the metal casting process. Q1: What exactly is hot patina?
A: It’s not paint or plating. We heat the bronze and brush on mineral-based solutions by hand – the temperature and the maker’s touch decide how the colours layer. No two pieces end up looking the same. Even the same sculpture can read warm in morning light and cooler in the evening.
Q2: How substantial does it feel in person?
A: It has real weight in the hand, and it is metal through and through - cast in brass by the lost-wax process, with walls around 3 mm, joined and finished by hand. No resin filler, no thin sheet metal.
Q3: How do I take care of it?
A: Just dust it now and then with a soft, dry cloth. Keep it out of constant damp or direct rain (even though we seal it, better safe). No wax, no chemicals – the bronze ages on its own, and that’s part of the charm.
